Privacy Policy

Pine Player Neo for iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Effective date: November 1, 2026

This policy explains what information Pine Player Neo (“the app”) handles, where it is stored, and the choices available to you. Pine Player Neo is developed by Digipine (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

Key points

  • You do not need to create an account to use the app.

  • The app has no advertising and contains no third-party analytics or tracking tools.

  • Your music, playlists, settings, and Google Drive data remain on your device. We do not receive them.

  • Some optional online features send limited information to our servers. The information sent and its purposes are described below.

1. Information stored only on your device

The following information is stored on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and is not sent to our servers:

  • Music files you add or download, and their artwork

  • Playlists, play history, playback position, equalizer settings, and other app settings

  • Addresses, usernames, and passwords for network sources you add, including SMB, FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and DLNA

  • Google sign-in tokens

Passwords and Google sign-in tokens are stored in Apple Keychain.

When you connect to your own network server or a Pine Player desktop app on your local network, the app communicates directly with that device. To discover Pine Player desktop apps, the app sends your device name and an app-generated device identifier over your local network only.

2. Google Drive

If you add a Google account, the app can browse, stream, and download music stored in your Google Drive. This feature is optional.

Permissions requested by the app

The app requests permission to view and download your Google Drive files (drive.readonly) so it can list your music folders and stream or download audio files, playlists (CUE, M3U), and cover images you open. The app never creates, modifies, or deletes files in your Google Drive.

The app also requests access to your name, email address, and profile (openid, email, profile) to display the connected Google account so you can distinguish between accounts.

How Google user data is used

  • File and folder names, file sizes, and file contents are read only when you browse, play, or download, and only to provide those features.

  • If you set a Music Folder, the app reads only that folder and its subfolders.

  • Audio is streamed to the player on your device. Files you download are saved locally within the app.

  • Your sign-in token is stored in Apple Keychain on your device. The short-lived access token is kept in memory only.

  • Google user data is transmitted only between your device and Google. We do not operate any server that receives, stores, or processes your Google user data, and we do not access your files, file names, email address, or tokens.

  • We do not sell, share, or transfer Google user data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.

  • We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

  • No person at Digipine reads your Google user data.

Pine Player Neo’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy).

Disconnecting Google Drive

  • In the app’s Music tab, tap or click â‹® next to your Google account and select Sign Out. This removes the account and its sign-in token from your device.

  • You can also revoke the app’s access at any time through your Google Account permissions page (https://myaccount.google.com/connections).

  • Downloaded music remains in the app until you delete it or delete the app.

App version check

The app sends a request to check which features are available for its current version. No additional user information is sent.

Server logs

Our servers may record your IP address and the time of a request in short-term logs for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these logs to identify you.

4. Services provided by Apple

  • Apple Music: If you use Apple Music in the app, the service is provided by Apple through MusicKit under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive your Apple Music account information.

  • Purchases: Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment information.
